HYPERBARICS (HBOT) AND STROKE
The current standard of care for stroke involves the use of thrombolytic medications, which can dissolve blood clots and restore blood flow to the brain. However, these medications must be administered within a few hours of the onset of symptoms to be effective, and they can cause bleeding and other side effects.

HBOT may offer an alternative treatment option for stroke patients. By increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood, HBOT can help to stimulate the growth of new blood vessels and improve blood flow to the brain. In addition, HBOT may have anti-inflammatory effects that can reduce the amount of brain damage caused by a stroke.

Several clinical trials have been conducted to investigate the use of HBOT for stroke. In a study published in the journal Stroke, researchers investigated the use of HBOT in patients with acute ischemic stroke. They found that patients who received HBOT within 36 hours of stroke onset had significantly better outcomes than those who received standard care alone. The HBOT group had a higher rate of complete or near-complete recovery, as well as a lower rate of disability and death.

Another study, published in the journal Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine, looked at the use of HBOT in patients with chronic stroke. The study found that after 40 HBOT sessions, patients had significant improvements in motor function, cognitive function, and quality of life. In addition, the study found that HBOT was safe and well-tolerated by the patients.

Hyperbarics has shown so much promise that EMS services are implementing hyperbarics in ambulances.
